The only real drawback in refering to SARS-CoV-2 as COVID, is that verbal shorthand can lead to misunderstandings. A month later, the SARS-CoV-2 variant that’s found currently in India ( B.1.617) that is running wild, makes it’s way over to the U.S. and starts spreading like wildfire. The TV news may offer some information about a new wave of infections occuring from the “COVID variant from India” If that’s all a person hears, they may take the news with a grain of salt, after all, that person was vaccinated already for COVID… what’s the big deal?
