This house rule I use effectively allows a Necromancer to sacrifice his magic cells to strengthen his strength into a powerful minion. For me, it was much better than having to deal with 40 skeletons following the Keep Calm and Break free Minion Freddie Mercury shirt vandals around and giving the Necromancer a strong sense of having a great pet. You can make them powerful witches or have the right to use powerful spells like Clone or other remote communication methods such as avatars or illusions, etc. That way they can return. Or you can have another NPC come to complete their plan. How bad is the guy you paint? He is just a henchman of a bigger bad guy.
