Border collies are not considered hypoallergenic. Now different people seem to react more or less to some breeds then others, but in general border collies are not a good choice for people that are allergic to dogs. Same is true with mixed breeds, including doodles. It’s a gamble. You never know. A lot of them are not hypoallergenic as adults. What makes poodles a better choice for those with allergies has nothing to do with shedding. Their coat actually has a different protein structure then other breeds. So if you react to poodles, you're allergic to poodles but could be fine with other dogs, and vice versa. I’m very allergic to most dogs, but I do fine with my standard poodles. Poodles are the most recommended breeds for those with dog allergies for many reasons. But my recommendation would be to find owners and spend time around their dog to see if you react. As many different dogs of that breed as possible. That is the best way to know if YOU will react to them or not.
