It’s largely 2D, although these days a lot of anime incorporate CGI into it to a lesser or greater degree depending on the anime with lesser or greater success. Often it’ll use animation shortcuts and less frames per second than western animated movies and series because of time, budget and staff constraints because of how the animation industry is and it might look a bit different. A lot of anime particularly those aimed at child and teenage audiences will have characters with large eyes (kind of like those in Disney movies), small noses and somewhat unrealistic figures, but with more triangular chins and rounded faces to reflect the Japanese people. That said, some styles are less or more realistic depending on the anime and what they were going for. Anime geared more towards older audiences will probably have more realistic human anatomy and anime geared more towards younger audiences will have less so.
