It can be caught immediately and end the game after 5 minutes. Gryffindor does this against Hufflepuff in Harry’s first year. That would be an awful match to turn out for. How does this work commercially for professional teams? Would people really spend hours traveling to a stadium, wait in line, buy an expensive ticket, and then get a 5-minute game? The only way for seekers not to matter is if the side that catches it allows 150+ points to be scored against them. My biggest gripe with Quidditch is it significantly affects who wins the House Cup. Shouldn’t that be entirely academic/behavior based? A basketball game doesn’t affect who is summa cum laude. Quidditch is indeed unreasonable.
