Making sure they have access to water, and lots of it. Shallow dishes are better for smaller animals. If you use a large container make sure to provide a rock or stick so that small animal can climb out. Place the container in an area where animals are protected from predators when drinking (near a shrub or bush) and keep your pets away from this area so that animals can drink undisturbed. If you own a yard, a wide shallow birdbath would be greatly welcomed by your fine feathery amigos. Place it in a shady area and high enough so that cats and the like won’t get to them. Lastly, change the water often or soon it may become fetid and sick; the perfect home for mosquito breeding.
