Trump supporters tend towards this approach to interpreting much in their life. They read a story that indicates thousands of people are suffering from breakthrough infections and conclude that the vaccine doesn’t work. They arrive at this conclusions despite the fact that literally hundreds of millions of vaccines have been administered and that the vaccine is roughly 90% effective. Those two numbers should provide a rational observer with the understanding that there will be quite a few breakthrough infections but that one refusing the vaccine is far more likely to become infected, not to mention far more likely to suffer with more intense symptoms.
