As a result, no-excuse required mass mail-in ballots resulted for the first time in most states. Mail-in voting lends itself to possible fraud much more so than in-person balloting. Therefore, asking for audits—and not mere recounts—in states that were relatively close is not an unreasonable proposition. It is not the count that is in question, but rather the legitimacy of the ballots themselves. Of course, just as diehard Trump supporters will; always question the legitimacy of the election, anti-Trump voters will never accept the outcome of an audit if such revealed significant voter fraud. This is a sorry situation for the body politic.
