Do you need the dog to wear a harness?

 Do you need the dog to wear a harness? Is it trained to be a guide dog? Are you planning to use the dog as a sled dog? If there is no reason for the dog to pull or convey signals to the handler there is no need for a harness. Better train the dog especially in leash respect. No need for a harness. The danger of a harness lies in its misuse. If a dog would present adverse behaviour such as dog anxiety or dog aggression for instance and would pull on the harness it will feel supported in the bad behaviour. This is exactly a method to train police dogs for their bite work! The plus side of training your dog is that the bond with your dog will become so much stronger and your dog will trust you when training is done correctly. This in itself would give the dog self-confidence and it wouldn't be scared anymore.
