It sounds like he needs another cat to play with. He doesn’t have a buddy so he plays with your ankles like you are another cat. You can tell him “no” firmly & put him in “kitty timeout “ in a carrier or a bathroom with the door closed for about 10 minutes only. Any longer & he won’t remember what he did to get in there. You can use a clean spray bottle with plain water in it & spray him ONCE when you say “no”. He will get the idea. Spraying him more than once is overkill & he won’t appreciate you for it.Praise him & give him a treat when he begins to stop biting or chasing your ankles when you tell him “no”. Eventually he will get the idea. Use one method or the other, don’t spray him and put him in timeout because it is overkill.
