One is that your dog adores you, and wants to follow, and watch, you everywhere

Two reasons. One is that your dog adores you, and wants to follow, and watch, you everywhere. The more scientific answer though is that he’s got your back. Communal animals tend to relieve themselves in the presence of a “lookout.” They are more vulnerable while doing their business and so someone else in the pack has their back. Naturally, they want to do this for you. It’s the same reason some dogs (and even cats) will only eat with their human present. You are supposed to protect them while they’re focused on something else. If someone ever attacked you while you were taking a dump, you’d appreciate your dog’s close attention!
